Run 1394 – September 27th, 2015

Run 1394 Sunday September 27th, 2015
这是2015年9月27日,星期日,SH3 Run #1394 的说明:

The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese Han Calendar. It is celebrated by the giving of moon cakes. Why? Well there are many explanations, including a Turpan businessman offered cakes to Emperor Taizong of Tang in his victory against the Xiongnu on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. Taizong took the round cakes and pointed to the moon with a smile, saying, “I’d like to invite the toad to enjoy the (胡) cake.” After sharing the cakes with his ministers, the custom of eating these cakes spread throughout the country. Eventually these became known as mooncakes. But of course, this is a load of bollocks (Ed). In fact, it was created, like most events, by Hallmark cards to promote sending paper greetings to each other and then latterly, egreetings. However, one thing that has not changed over time, history or Hallmark ‘effin’ cards is the tradition of Shanghai hashers running, drinking lots of cold beer and having fun every Sunday. This epic custom will continue long past the existence of moon cakes!!

So what happened on the 27th of September in History!! Well in 2008 CNSA astronaut Zhai Zhigang becomes the first Chinese person to perform a spacewalk while flying on Shenzhou 7. But if that is not ‘stellar’ enough for you, in 1998, Google was launched. However, of course, its has since been blocked in China so it doesn’t really matter. In 1989, Sony purchased Columbia Pictures. And way back in 1908, the first Model T Ford came off the production line in Detroit (Utah!!).
