THE CHINESE VALENTINES RUN/ THE JING’AN FAMILY MART RUN!
There is no end to the romance that Shanghai has to offer. This coming Tuesday, we celebrate the Chinese Valentines Day, also known as the Double Seventh Festival (this is a family hash, we will not insert a sexual joke here) but mostly known as the Qixi 七夕節 or Qiqiao 乞巧節 Festival.
In the spirit of keeping it as romantic as possible, we will be retracing the steps Niulang 牛郎 (think of him as the Chinese Aladdin) took to find his true love Zhinü 织女 (think of her as the Chinese Princess Jasmine) through the streets of Shanghai. We will take you through all the most romantic spots in Shanghai (we hear they are called Family Mart) and for the girls we will teach you the ancient art of Chinese needlework (guaranteed to get you married at the marriage market in People’s Square).
Come on. Stay hydrated. We will make it decently lengthed, decently paced and decently hydrating on this warm summer day so you don’t melt (and no, we are not talking about sex with a chocolate penis)
On On On after dinner will be at our hash bar I Love Shanghai 3/F, 1788 Xinzha Lu, near Jiaozhou Lu 新闸路1788号3楼, 近胶州路. Hashers get a RMB 25 deal on beers.
As always, feel free to bring a bag for a change of clothes. Our handy hoard of
pickpockets thieves safekeepers will very kindly watch over your bags. ON ON!
